EPIC KAYAKS

The surf ski kayak manufacturer EPIC Kayak is the largest and oldest among the manufacturers and is almost solely responsible for the development of the field and bringing it to where it is today.
All of the company’s managers without exception are experienced surf ski rowers. Many years ago they decided to oblige every company employee, even the most junior employee, to learn paddling and take a regular part in the company’s paddling activities every week. The reason for this is that every employee should know the importance of his part in producing the final product. Their goal is to bring to the world the highest quality surf ski kayak.

Greg Barton, Founder of EPIC

Greg is one of the three owners of the company. He is an Olympic rower with four Olympic medals, two of which are gold medals, as well as four victories in world championships. Always humble, Greg is actually the man who developed the wing kayaks that everyone uses today, as a surf ski kayak and as an Olympic kayak. He is a marine engineer by training and is the designer behind EPIC’s many surf ski models. Over the years he designed vessels for other companies as well, such as the Sprinter of Ocean Kayak.

EPIC owns several factories where a variety of models are produced

One of the things that sets EPIC apart is the kayak planning and design process. The first step is determining the exact purpose of the designed model, whether the main purpose is Downwind – paddling in moderate seas, fast paddling in stormy seas, or a combination of several features and so on.
After the design phase, building the model and testing the results in wind tunnels, there is a long process of experimenting in the water which include repeated attempts in all types of sea by many experienced rowers. The final model is produced after a long and expensive process of tests and lots of improvements. That is why EPIC is the only company with such a large variety of surf ski kayaks that allows each buyer to customize the exact kayak for himself, according to his style, skill level and the special sea conditions in his paddling environment.

In all that is related to the manufacturing materials and the manufacturing processes

are no compromises at EPIC.

The final design of the kayak goes into production at EPIC’s factory and is produced by EPIC employees, without the use of subcontractors, in order to maintain a high level of supervision.

EPIC uses the highest quality and most expensive carbon and Kevlar fabrics, while applying pre-impregnated technologies. In addition, each kayak is coated on the inside with expensive Honey Comb sheets that improve the strength of the kayak, its resistance to pressure and maintaining its original shape even in case of external damage, all this without increasing its weight.
